Evelyn Mangold

Gender Parity

After talking with students, Evelyn, a senior at the University of Miami, recognized that the majority of students at her university do not have knowledge of campus resources to address sexual assault, like how to proceed forward on campus with daily life after being assaulted, where to get support, and how to report what happened. This ignorance puts victims at risk of either being forced to remain silent or struggling to find resources. Three issues must be faced: lack of reporting; awareness of campus resources; and acceptance that campus resources are reliable and trustworthy. With this movement, Evelyn is advocating to inform the university and students that sexual assault victims need support, everyone needs to be educated and all students must participate in a conversation involving all genders about sexual assault by developing a campaign called K[no]w More.
