Economic Justice

Stockton is on the cusp of an urban renaissance but educational barriers continue to limit the growing power of our city. For Stockton to truly grow to its full potential, we will need to overcome the brain drain that affects our community. The mission of Stockton Urban Revitalization Fellowship (SURF) is to train the next generation of Stockton leaders by connecting aspiring changemakers with Stockton’s social impact community and stemming the brain drain by creating a pipeline for people to come back into the community. The Stockton Urban Revitalization Fellowship looks to leverage our greatest asset (youth) by empowering Stocktonians to return, invest, and solve their hometown’s most pressing problems. SURF is currently finishing its inaugural 7-week summer program, but looks to the future to scale up, become sustainable, and eventually be a year-long fellowship.
