When the founding staff launched Young People For in 2004, they sought to design a series of programs to turn young people’s innovative ideas into action, to give them unique professional experiences in the progressive movement, and to make sure they had powerful opportunities to engage in public and political life.
As we complete the selection of our 11th fellowship class, we continue to grow our network of over 1,500 progressive leaders from 45 states, building power in places that are too often overlooked. During this new year and another decade of investing in progressive youth, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our community college and democracy initiatives in North Carolina. Through these initiatives, we are committed to building a platform for young leaders to find and raise their voices.
To help us achieve this vision YP4 welcomes two new staff to the team. Lela Ali ’14, our Community College Consultant, is a 2014 Fellow from NC State University who is responsible for growing our Fellowship’s community college cohort.
Mercedes Fulbright is also joining the YP4 team as a Fellowship Associate. She will lead our recruitment and selection processes to increase the retention of Fellows from community, historically black, and Hispanic-serving colleges and universities.
We hope you will join us in welcoming Mercedes and Lela to YP4 and join us in celebrating our 10 year anniversary.
