Dear All,

On July 16th over 60 Dream Defenders, led by 2005 alumnus Phil Agnew, took a stand on the controversial Stand Your Ground law in Florida in response to the ‘not guilty’ verdict in the State of Florida vs. George Zimmerman trial. As they anticipate this action could take anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks – or even months – we want to offer you the opportunity to support our progressive family in their courageous stand.  They are requesting food and financial support, continued public awareness and public education, and our solidarity.

If you would like to make a statement of solidarity for Phil (’05), Jonel (’12), Monique (‘05), Vincent (‘08), and Regina (’13) and the Dream Defenders community, take a picture of yourself with a statement of solidarity like “#Callthesession: We Stand with the Dream Defenders”, “End Racial Oppression: Introduce the #trayvonmartinact” , “I am human: #takeoverfl” or with your own message of support.  Email your photo to us at and we will post them to express to the Dream Defenders, and to the country, that young people are standing with them in this fight.

Because we are.

In Solidarity,

The YP4 Team
