Lessons from the SoapBlox hacker fiasco

They took down four of their servers to minimize the spread of the damage, and the individual who ran SoapBlox declared defeat. (He’s since taken down the post, but you can still read the text at DailyKos.)

During my first week at Greenlining Institute, my fellowship placement for the 2008-2009 Leadership Academy year, I spent an afternoon sitting in on a meeting regarding pipelining programs. Those in attendance discussed and agreed for the need to reach out to underrepresented students high schools, community colleges, and four-year universities, as a means of diversifying the demographics at science/health programs in graduate and professional schools. In an offline conversation, I shared that I am a product of several pipeline programs that have provided me with the support I needed to persevere and excel in my pre-med courses at Berkeley.
