Community Health Project

Tracy organized an event called “Contraception Reception” as part of a Blueprint project so youth and adults of the lower-incomed neighborhood, who are rarely able to engage as a community, could come together and learn about and discuss community health issues, such as comprehensive sex education, lack of community resources, and community engagement. The event, held at a local park, allowed community members to engage with others through service by cleaning the park. Additionally, an educational movie having to do with comprehensive sex education was screened, during which condoms were handed out for free. This event brought the community together to do something for itself and provided a place where neighbors could get to know one another better and discuss the lack of comprehensive sex education in their community, which contributed to numerous related health issues for members.
