Wesleyan Women of Color Project

Through her Blueprint, Thana-Ashley worked to increase the visibility of women of color and their issues at Wesleyan University. She focused on this because women of color deal with complex personal and academic issues that were often overlooked because most Wesleyan students hailed from privilege and did not require special needs. She sought to raise awareness about these issues through forums for both students and administration to engage in discussions surrounding WOC needs that are overlooked and/or denied in a variety of areas, including behavioral health, academic resources, and lack of diversity in certain departments. By facilitating conversation with the administration, she sought to put additional student pressure on them to make postiive changes for WOC.
