Young People For the American Dream

George Mtonga initiated a program at the Vanderbilt YMCA called Young People For The American Dream that addressed the lack of academic and legal guidance provided to undocumented high school students. Through this program, George connected students with legal and academic services from other community-based organizations in New York City. Additionally, he created a year-long program that provided direct academic and legal support for 15 students, and met with them twice a week to help each one get enrolled in college following their high school graduation.
