Sam Lewis grew up in Brooklyn, NY and is a 2006 graduate of Edward R. Murrow High School. At Oberlin College, he double majored in Environmental Studies and Politics, with a focus in comparative politics. As chair of the Oberlin College Democrats he was responsible for planning events, bringing speakers to campus, and organizing GOTV and voter registration drives. In January, 2007 Sam was an intern in Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur’s office in Washington, DC. In 2008 he spent the summer and fall semester as an intern and then as research staff on the Darcy Burner for Congress campaign in Washington State’s 8th congressional district, outside of Seattle. Sam also completed a senior thesis on the Employee Free Choice Act, and headed back to New York to work in progressive politics or the labor movement.
